Business Development Manager


Namlog seeks experienced Business Development Manager to source and acquire new clients for Namlog Group of Companies, with specific focus on selling all the following services:

  1. Break bulk and full truck load transport
  2. Contract Logistics/dedicated distribution
  3. Warehouse Outsourcing (Facility, Operations and/or Management Outsourcing)

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Source and acquire new clients that fit in with the Namlog overall business strategy. This includes:
    • Researching for potential new “cold call” clients
    • “Cold calling” potential new clients
    • Utilizing his/her existing network of contacts to schedule sales calls
    • Utilize Namlog’s network of transportation clients to cross-sell other Supply Chain services
    • Compile visit schedules
    • Report on visits and KPI’s
    • Achieve sales targets
    • Engage in active advertising for the company
    • In general, constantly promoting Namlog through positive public relations
  2. Determining the needs of the market.
  3. Assist the company in reaching its vision, mission and objectives.
  4. Ensure that clients are up to date with new products and information.
  5. Provide clients with solutions, quotations and technical assistance.
  6. Active customer relationship management.
  7. Ensure that the correct and most efficient formwork design is applied.
  8. Supports the customer with formwork know-how (“speak the customer’s language!”).
  9. Determine a client sales strategy: Client strategy, Cost planning, Pricing of tender, Negotiating terms and conditions of contract.
  10. Take responsibility for the client.
  11. After Sales Service (following up and closing the loop).
  12. Makes sure there is flow of information to and from the customer and Namlog’ internal departments (project engineering, operations, customer credit management).
  13. Monitoring payment entry (invoice management).
  14. Actively supports the innovation process e.g. As “Sensor” especially in priority markets.
  15. Awareness and observation of industry competitors to maintain competitive advantage.
  16. Submit weekly progress reports and ensure data is accurate.
  17. Carry out all reasonable tasks, as required by Namlog management.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  1. Grade 12 (Matric)
  2. Relevant Qualification
  3. Analytical Skills
  4. Report Writing Skills
  5. Drafting of Tenders Experience
  6. Experience in Logistics or transport industry will be beneficial
  7. Practical experience in sales
  8. Experience with professional customer management, sales promoting measures and customer guidance
  9. Entrepreneurial knowledge (contracts, checking of credit worthiness, insolvency, supplementary invoice management)
  10. Working knowledge of market and competition
  11. Working knowledge of logistics
  12. Working knowledge of sales methods (scenarios, areas for opportunities, responding to claims, beneficial lines of reasoning)
  13. Valid Driver’s license and own transport
  14. Ability to communicate effectively in a commercial environment
  15. Ability to manage his/her own time
  16. Ability to prioritize work tasks
  17. Ability to delegate appropriately
  18. Desire and willingness to achieve company goals to be best of his/her ability
